ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The Wildlife and Green Sister’s Society in a release today alleged that in Chambang area under Kurung Kumey district Mithun’s (Bros Frontalis) are dying due to outbreak of Mithun disease. The Society expressed concern over alarming death of Mithun and appealed the director of animal husbandry and veterinary and the deputy commissioner Kurung Kumey to send veterinary team with proper vaccine and medicines to contain the disease.

AALO Aug 11: A Slow Loris was rescued by Pokde Yomgam, Head Master, Govt. Secondary School, Nomuk from his village area and handed it over to the DFO, Aalo.
This is for the second time that Yomgam has rescued endangered species as he has handed over one Bear cub to the then DFO. The endangered species, slow Loris will be handed over to the Chief Wildlife Warden, Itanagar after examining her health by the veterinary Doctor.

ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The All Bassarnallo Youth Association (ABYA) has put a blanket ban on fishing and hunting by non residents of Bassarnallo within its jurisdiction.

The camp was inaugurated by Chawang Lowang Chairperson Zilla Parisad Tirap district in presence of S Bangsia ZPM and all the PRI members of Khela –Lamsa Block.

ANSU lodges complaint against unknown individual
ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) in a release today claimed that some unidentified individuals are collecting forceful donation from the business community of capital complex in the name of ANSU. Union claimed that few individuals collected donation from a business establishment of Akashdeep shopping complex in the name of ANSU Education sectary Lokam Tagiam. On receiving complaints from councilor of ward no.13 about it, ANSU swung into action and clarified that no one from union had made such collection and it was done by unknown individual. An FIR was lodged at Itanagar police station against the unknown person by ANSU education secretary for using his name and designation to carry out illegal activities.
ANSU has appealed to the business community members of capital to lodge police complaint against those unknown individuals who use name of ANSU to collect donation. They also urged police to arrest any fake individual found indulging in such activities in the name of ANSU.

One HIV positive case detected in Lower Subansiri

ZIRO, Aug 11: While new HIV cases are declining over the period throughout the nation because of effective policies and measures taken up by the government, detection of one more new case this year in Lower Subansiri district hospital, Ziro has alerted the concern department and the people of the district.
A decade or so ago, HIV/AIDS was not known to the people of Arunachal Pradesh but today there are more than hundred of such cases across the state including Lower Subansiri district.
According to source, 4 cases of HIV (+ve) were detected in Lower Subansiri district till 2013, of which one was found to be AIDS who died later.
Recently one more case was detected.
The record available in hospital since 2006 shows that only 8486 persons came forward for test, among them 1 detected with HIV positive in 2008, 3 in 2011 and one in 2014. Now the district has officially 4 HIV (+ve) cases – 2 female and 2 male. It is just the tip of iceberg and the number may be much higher.
Another shocking disclosure is that Lower Subansiri district also has large number of sexually transmitted Vineral Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) positive cases. As per data available in hospital since 2011, 1586 persons were tested for VDRL out of which 134 were found positive (108 female and 26 male). These VDRL affected persons are mostly from the age group of between 20 and 35 year.
Since series of tests are done at hospitals before any blood transfusion, spread of STD and HIV/AIDS could be mostly for uncontrolled sexual activities in the society.
Despite knowing well the consequences of having unprotected sex, people also commit mistakes repeatedly for which transmission of these dreaded diseases could not be stopped.
To prevent further spread of HIV/AIDS & STD in the district, it requires extensive awareness campaign especially in schools and colleges, said a senior citizen who is very much concern about it. Total awareness of people on the issue only could help prevent spreading, he added.

State Govt too should fall in line
Dear Editor,
After going through both sides of the argument regarding increasing the retirement age of State Govt Employees from 58 yrs to 60 yrs and the other view that the Govt must maintain status quo, I am more convinced by the former purely on the ground that the Fundamental Rules governing services of Govt employees are derived from the Constitutional provisions.
The State of Arunachal, being a part of Indian Union following all the laid down constitutional provisions and norms, therefore cannot afford to violate the laws merely on the ground that it is industrially backward and Govt job is the only medium for employment to the educated youths. Since most of the States have complied with the directives of various Central Pay Commissions, it is high time our State Govt too fall in line. The avoidance tactics or ignorance of law is not a good excuse. It’s lucky that no member of COSSAP or any employee has moved to the Court and filed a PIL. A sensitive Govt concerned with its image as well as the wellbeing of its own servants must not wait for the directive of the Court for discharging it Constitutional duty.
Also it is a fact that due to rapid progress in medical science and improvement in standard of living world over, the average life span of humans have increased from fifties to seventy plus and the age range of 58 to 60 yrs is seen as highly matured and productive and, it is probably because of this reality that the Seventh Pay Commission has recommended raising the retirement age further from 60 to 62 yrs for all employees. Needless to conclude that the State Govt after consulting its Legal Wing and the Dept of Organisation and Methods take a call at the earliest.

The efficiency of a hospital
Dear Editor,
I recently spent 13 days in the Ramakrishna mission hospital and would like to publicly acknowledge and praise the doctors and staff who attended to me, none of whom I knew prior to this event.
I was initially taken to the hospital emergency room after a bike accident. The EMTs were all professional, caring and courteous. They did what needed to be done and tried to ease my pain.
They referred me to go to an Orthopaedic room of an O.P.D. After an examination, tests and X rays, I was admitted to the hospital male ward 1 after consultation with Dr.Obang. If you ever have the misfortune to be placed on this hospital, I pray that you will have the good fortune to get the skilled, efficient, caring, compassionate group of nurses. After the successful operation, I was moved to the Bed128 of a Male ward 2 . The attending physician, Dr Obang was extremely intelligent, experienced, knowledgeable, caring and dedicated to addressing my problems and how best to get me back on my feet and improve my health. Ramakrishna Mission Hospital is truly fortunate to have someone of his abilities on their staff.
I was also blessed with wonderful nurses, nurse technicians and therapists. To these
great nurses, I was a sick patient, not a sick task. Their smiles and encouragement
helped lift my spirits, thereby, promoting my well-
They did not just perform their required tasks, but truly took care of the patient efficiently and very respectfully. Additionally, the housekeeping staff who maintained our ward were not only concerned about the cleanliness, but did so with pleasant demeanors. They should
be rewarded for their attention to details and performance of duties, for if there is a weakness in the cleanliness, then all of the medical care in the world would be in vain due to the potential of bacteria or other contaminants infecting the already weakened patient.
Also, contrary to what many people think or say, the food was excellent! I was told that the hospital had good dietician in the fall, and I was extremely grateful to be the beneficiary of his/her talents. The food looked good and tasted good, very hard to do without seasoning.
I’m very thankful to the Ramakrishna hospital. Hope the hospitality increases day by day.

Start free vaccination
Dear Editor,
Japanese Encephalitis (JE) have already claimed hundreds of lives in the state of Assam and the government have been providing free vaccination to prevent further spread of disease since the four years in almost all districts.
However, in our state, the attention of the concern authority is confined to Capital Complex alone and ignoring the people of other districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
The concern authority should provide free vaccination all over Arunachal Pradesh as early as possible because poor and helpless people are not in a position to afford the high cost of vaccination sold in the market.
The poor people dwelling in the remote and rural areas of West kameng, and East Kameng districts are rushing to the Govt Hospitals and Dispensaries at Charduar, Balipara and Tezpur in Assam to obtain a single dose of free Vaccination to save their lives and to prevent the spread of dreaded disease.
Therefore, it is my humble appeal to the government of Arunachal Pradesh, through this daily, to launch a Mass Free Vaccination Programme at every district to eradicate the spread of Japanese Encephalitis from the State. Awareness campaign alone may not be able to check the spread of disease.

Lalu hoped that Mulayam Singh Yadav and Maywati also joined hands in Uttar Pradesh to defeat the BJP. Both Lalu and Nitish are leader with strong personalities. Only time will tell how long this new found bonhomie between former foes lasts.
